Have been long awaiting their album for I think somewhere close to 2 years now? The record is finally available in the next week or so. They are all large swirly mellow guitar sounds and hazy vocals.

"Let It Go" is a current favorite of what I've heard, but I also especially love the combination of this song/video!

I have always loved this song. My dad used to play it on the piano

and sing and my grandma would stand behind and sing too. good old days...

I love Peggy Lee singing it and all the little bells and twinkle

noises in the background.

P.S. I'm far from a hardcore roots fan but a while back, I randomly ran into questlove while getting my morning coffee at Levain Bakery. I'm honestly not one for being starstruck but all I could say was "hi......" and proceeded to stare at him blankly for 5 seconds. Of course questlove was nice and said hi back and then promptly turned away to look at the cookie selection.

Lady with him: So we'll get one of each??
Questlove: (shakes his head slowly at her in disbelief) what?? no...........
(slow head shake then morphs into a slow "damn straight we're gonna be needing more than one of each cookie" head nod)

Anyway, caught the Earthless set with a few friends some nights ago and they are just mind blowing and ridiculous and will take you through the cosmic canyons of space and time!!! It warranted a random text from emily two days later in the middle of the afternoon - "MOTHERFUCKIN EARTHLESS!" A band you will NEVER catch anyone complain about not repeating a riff enough. Hail that!!!!! EARTHLESS!!!

Nothing like squandering away the (chinese) new year by listening to sad oldie tunes I grew up with. The thing about the Chinese language is that phrases can be so concise yet manage capture a multitude of nuances elegantly, poetically and beautifully... I don't know how to describe it to non-speakers. Anyway, I remember yelling at my dad from my bedroom about blasting/karaokeing this stuff at 9am on the weekends. I've come a loooonnnggg way... Good stuffs!

That party that didn't happen

We made a flyer for the black angels / warlocks after-party a friend put together that for some reason didn't happen, but here it is anyways...



I caught the warlocks at mercury lounge the evening before with a really excited group of fans. I had no idea the mustache drummer and the bassist weren't in the band anymore. Anyway, the show was alright and I was just excited to see them at mercury after such a long time. Bobby just seemed really happy to be playing in the city. They definitely gave a much better show at southpaw the following night though. The lighting was better, the sound was louder and they ended with moving mountains!!! Bobby is my new hero with his brian jones haircut!

Thanks to my largely self-diagnosed OCD, the first half of the clothing section is up and running. The t-shirt section and exhibition photos will be coming shortly.

I suppose I am on some bizarre form of rampage from today's events with the thief. There is something strangely peaceful and melancholic though, working through the night by yourself, and listening to Jim James wail away softly. I'm probably somewhat just a lil more than a casual listener, but I do still dig this very much:

ok...so as you read bellow, this week has been a pretty fucking awesome week in music for us.
the witch/titan/graveyard show on wednesday was AMAZING...now i have amazing new music to listen to (namely witch) and also a new crush...ahem ahem.
riding on that high (and the one from just watching Step Up to the Streets!), we went to another show last night at market hotel
and saw these are powers, old time relijun and some other great bands- the venue is an amazing space..lots of moshing again, we didn't quite join in but we were definetly going nuts jumping and just wriggling out to drone...fun fun fun! although it did take the assistance of a local crazy woman to help us find the place...somehow by looking at us she new exactly where we were going...hmmm wonder why?
