Nothing like squandering away the (chinese) new year by listening to sad oldie tunes I grew up with. The thing about the Chinese language is that phrases can be so concise yet manage capture a multitude of nuances elegantly, poetically and beautifully... I don't know how to describe it to non-speakers. Anyway, I remember yelling at my dad from my bedroom about blasting/karaokeing this stuff at 9am on the weekends. I've come a loooonnnggg way... Good stuffs!

Happy (day after) New Year folks!
Met friends for thai food and then had a nice peaceful new year's eve. We were at the basement of The Charleston with friends playing a show there and faked a count down about 5 minutes past midnight (stop mid-song for a countdown?? please.....). Good stuff, had fun!
So in other irrelevant matters, we all headed out after and ate some more and went home to bed.
AWESOME.

Halleljuah!
This israeli song has and always will be one of my favorite songs of ALL TIME....it won the 1979 Eurovision contest. beautiful!
*note the snazzy/sparkly 70's suspenders...
**and doesn't the singer (Gali Atari) look just like sarah silverman?? (i'm not imagining this!)

Update: The Giant Book of Tiny People
So it's taken quite a while... (<----- understatement)
But "The Giant Book of Tiny People" is finally up under the illustrations page!
Brain is COMPLETELY cloudy from too much computer codes and what not, but here's something to remedy the situation... One of my favorites...

Like butter...
I was on the way home today and sat down next to an old busker who was howlin his guts out to this. It's about time...
*Both the Sam Cooke original and Otis Redding cover are great*

CACTI! (and frogs and restrooms)
so...i was told that i don't post enough (which is true). So its time to get my lazy ass off the couch and onto the inter-web!!!
We went to LA a few weeks ago for the Tee Pee Records Manifest Destiny Festival- which was of course, beyond awesome. 9 straight hours of sludge, drone, drudge, mush, mind-melt, fuzz, mess, slow growing mold, and of course HEAD BANGING.....haha and of course the all powerful Obama was watching over it all (literally there was a huge cardboard cut-out of Obama in one of the stage wings- watching over the whole spectacle)
anyway- we also got to see nature..and i took lots of pictures of cacti.
We love cacti! we even have our own cacti in our rooms (Tiff you should take a picture of the hairy one and post it!)
